Speaker profile: Matthew Cossey

Matthew Cossey commenced as Chief Executive Officer of CropLife Australia in January 2011. Matthew currently leads the organisation’s strategic management and advocacy on crop protection, agricultural biotechnology and industry stewardship in Australia. Matthew is also actively serving on the Board of Directors for the Agricultural Biotechnology Council of Australia.

Prior to joining CropLife, he served as a senior executive and a member of the Executive Leadership Team for Raytheon Australia, a leading defence and technology company.

Before entering the private sector, Matthew was a senior official and campaign director for a major political party in the Australia Capital Territory (ACT); a position he held for more than six years.

Matthew has also served as Chief of Staff and Defence Adviser to the Shadow Minister for Defence from 1998 to 2002, previously worked as political adviser within the Senate for a prior three years. Prior to this position, Matthew had also worked in several positions within the Commonwealth Public Service prior to taking up his positions at Parliament House.

Matthew has previous experience serving on the Director on the Board of AFL Canberra for four years, and the CLC Group Board for seven years.

Matthew has previously undertaken tertiary studies in Canberra and Sydney.
