Speaker profile: Dr. Kylie Tattersall

Dr. Kylie Tattersall

Dr. Kylie Tattersall is currently the acting Director of the Plant Evaluation Section at the Office of the Gene Technology Regulator.

Dr. Tattersall been working in the regulatory environment for over 16 years. For the majority of this time, she has been leading teams of evaluators conducting human health and environmental risk assessments for work involving genetically modified organisms (GMOs). This work has involved many different types of GMOs, including the intentional release of genetically modified (GM) plants and animal vaccines, and contained work involving GM microbes and viruses for human vaccines, cancer treatments and cell therapies. Dr Tattersall has also worked in the Chemical Review Section at the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Authority (APVMA), Canberra.

Prior to joining the public service, Dr. Tattersall was an Assistant Research Professor at the Department of Plant Biology, The Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University, Copenhagen, Denmark, and a lecturer at Department of Horticulture, Viticulture and Oenology, University of Adelaide, South Australia. She completed a Ph.D. in Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences at the University of Adelaide.
